Why
The Maltese archipelago is located in the heart of the Mediterranean, south west of Sicily.
Malta is composed of a group of islands, the main ones are, Malta- the largest island, Gozo-
a smaller island and Comino, which has few settlers.
The islands are surrounded by interesting diving sites, among them, dozens of shipwrecks
that were purposely sunk in order to create artificial habitats for marine life, and an intriguing
underwater topography of caves and niches where Mediterranean sea creatures can be found.
Malta has, in recent years, become a desired destination amongst European
divers seeking diving sites, without the need for long flights.
Because of Malta's great location and the depth of the sea that surrounds it, the water
is clear almost all year round with superb visibility of between 20-40 meters.
Malta is a fun and lively destination where you can find great food, bars, and of course
magnificent history. Just a short flight to amazing beaches, restaurants, cafes and of course
great diving sites, combine to make Malta an attractive destination for any divers.
When
Malta has a great Mediterranean climate. Summer time is from April until November.
It is recommended to visit between June to October and the water
temperature during the summer is approximately 26C degrees.
November is considered wintery with strong winds, low temperatures,
and a high probability of rain.
During the winter months, most businesses and hotels are closed and business owners
take this time for holidays, which gives the area a bit of a sleepy feeling. Therefore,
it is less recommended to visit during the winter season.
How
Packages to Malta are comprised of charter flights with Air Malta. The package includes
flights and usualy 4 nights (in hotels according to demand), and three diving days at main
dive sites.
Most diving takes place off shore from the diving club's boat in the channel between
Malta and Comino, where most of the shipwrecks are located.
For a small supplemental fee, it is highly recommended to ask for a diving day from
Gozo Island, Malta's famous diving topography with the inner sea, cave and Blue Hole.

כאשר יש צורך בנסיעה ברכב, לעיתים גם של כשעה לאתרי הצלילה הנמצאים במזרח האי.
Blenhein Bomber
אתר זה מהווה את אחת מהצלילות הטובות ביותר במלטה. במהלך מלחמת
העולם השנייה היה המפציץ בדרכו להפגזה ביוון. הוא הותקף והסתובב על
מנת לחזור לבסיס אך לא ברור למה לא הגיע ליעדו. המטוס שוכב בעומק 42
מ' מתחת לפני הים על גחונו. מוטות כנפיו הן 17 מ'. בהעמקה מתגלה
המטוס כמעט בשלמותו, כולל הכנפיים והפרופלור בכנף הימנית. הוא משמש
כאטרקציה מרכזית לחובבי הצילום בקטגוריית מטוסים טרופים.
רמה: הצלילה מתאימה לצוללים מנוסים עם התמחות עומק.
עומק: מקסימום 42 מ'.
Imperial Eagle & Kristu l-Bahhar
ספינת מסע מקומית משנות ה-50 שהוטבעה במכוון ב-1999 כדי ליצור
ריף מלאכותי. היא הממוקמת מול מלטה באזור קווארה. אורכה כ- 43 מטר.
בניווט קצר באתר ניתן למצוא פסל בטון ענק ומרשים במשקל שלושה עשר
טון של ישו המניף ידיים אל על במעמקי הים. הפסל הוטבע במיוחד כדי להגן
על הדייגים של מלטה, לא לפני שבורך ע"י האפיפיור ב- 1990. כתשע שנים
אח"כ הוא הועבר לאזור הספינה. נפגוש להקות של ג'ק פיש, ברקודות, נצרנים ועוד.
רמה: הצלילה מתאימה לצוללים מנוסים עם התמחות עומק.
עומק: מקסימום 42 מ'.
Um-El Faroud
זוהי ספינה מיכלית ענקית מלוב שהוטבעה במפרץ אל פארוד ב-1998 בקרקעית
חולית ב-34 מ', לאחר שאירע בה פיצוץ אדיר והוחלט לא לשפצה, אלא להטביע
אותה. אורכה כ-40 מטר. בסערה קשה ב-2005 היא נשברה לחצי. סביב הספינה
אפשר לראות להקות של ג'ק פיש, ברקודות, נצרנים ועוד. זוהי צלילת חוף ובדרך
לספינה נעבור בריף מרשים גם הוא, חורים ומחילות בריף מספקים הגנה לחי התת
מימי ומהם מציצים תמנונים, חשופיות, מורנות ועוד.
רמה: הצלילה מתאימה לצוללים מנוסים עם התמחות עומק.
עומק: מקסימום 34 מ'.
Tug Boat Rozi
כ- 70 מטר מנקודת הכניסה למים דרך החוף נמצאת הספינה הטרופה רוזי, שבמקורה
הייתה גוררת בריטית. היא הוטבעה ב-1992 כאטרקציה לצוללת תיירותית שפעלה אז.
בשל קרבתה לחוף הפכה לאטרקציה לצוללים רבים. ניתן לסייר בתוך בטן הספינה ללא
חשש מעצמים מסוכנים או אובייקטים חדים מאחר והספינה נוקתה היטב לפני הטבעתה.
רמה: הצלילה מתאימה לצוללים מנוסים עם התמחות עומק.
עומק: מקסימום 36 מ'.
HMS Stubborn Submarine
הצוללת נחשבת לאחד מאתרי הצלילה הטובים במלטה! צוללת המלחמה הבריטית הוטבעה
ב-1946 והיא עדיין שלמה. ניתן לראותה כבר מעומק של 30 מטר כיוון שהמים באתר זה
צלולים כמעט בכל ימות השנה. ניתן לראות את הטורפדו ואת גשר הצוללת בבירור.
רמה: צלילה המיועדת אך ורק לצוללים טכניים.
עומק: 60 מ'.
Madonna- Marfa Point
שם האתר ניתן לו בזכות הפסל של מריה הקדושה העומד בעומק של 18 מ' לפני
כניסה למערה קטנה. הפסל הוטבע במכוון ב-1987 ע"י מועדון צלילה מקומי.
הצלילה נעשית מעל מדרון מתון יורד עד לעומק של כ-10 מ' ונופל לעומק של
26 מ'. חלק נכבד מהצלילה מתבצע בעומקים רדודים ולכן האתר מאוד מתאים
גם לצלילות לילה. קיר השונית מלא בפתחים ומערות קטנות שהופכות את הצלילה
למעניינת במיוחד. בין היתר אפשר לפגוש גרופרים, מורנות, עקרבנונים, תמנונים ועוד.
רמה: מתאים לכל רמות הצוללים.
עומק: 10-30 מ'.
אתרי צלילה באזור האי גוזו- האי השני בגדולו, עם הסטוריה עשירה
מעניינת. מצריכות מעבורת עליה מעמיסים את רכב מועדון הצלילה עם כל הציוד.
כשמגיעים לאי, נוסעים כ-40 דקות צפונה שם נמצאים אתרי הצלילה המובילים.
The Blue Hole and the Chimeny
נחשב לאחד מעשרת אתרי הצלילה הטובים באירופה! הצלילה נמצאת ממש מתחת
לאטרקציה העל מימית Azzure Window. המים הכחולים מספקים סביבה
מתאימה לדגים מכל הסוגים ולמעשה הסבירות למצוא בצלילה זו דגים גדולים היא
מהגבוהות במלטה. החור הכחול הוא בעצם מערה ללא גג שתחתיתה מסתיימת בעומק
60 מטר, אך ניתן לצלול לעומקים של 30 מטר ולגלות מערות נוספות ובעלי חיים תת
ימיים לאורך הדרך כמו סוסוני ים, תמנונים, כוכבי ים, להקות של טונות, ברקודות ועוד.
רמה: מתאים לכל רמות הצוללים.
עומק: מקסימום 30 מ'.
Inland Sea
ממש באותו אזור נמצא מעין אגם פנימי של מי ים החודרים מתוך הים הפתוח. קוטרו של
האגם הפנימי הוא כ- 60 מטר. הכניסה למים בתוך האגם היא רדודה מאוד, אך תוך כדי
מעבר בתעלה לכיוון הים הפתוח צריך להעמיק מעט. החלק היפה ביותר בצלילה זו הוא
התאורה הכחולה והקירות המעניינים בתוך התעלה, שתחתיתה בעומק של כ -22 מטר.
ביציאה מהתעלה לים הפתוח ניתן להעמיק מעט ולצפות בדגים כגון ברקודות וטונות
בצלילה לאורך הריף החיצוני. בסוף הצלילה חוזרים לתעלה ולאגם הפנימי.
רמה: מתאים לכל רמות הצוללים.
עומק: מקסימום 30 מ'.
Double Arch Reef
הצלילה לקשת הכפולה היא ללא ספק אחת הצלילות הטובות במלטה, צלילה מרהיבה וייחודית.
האתר מתחיל בריף מדורג מעומק של 20 - 40 מ', בהקפה של הריף ניתן לראות בפינה את
הקשת הכפולה. אתר צלילה זה הוא בית להרבה דגים כגון ברקודות, גרופרים טונות ועוד.
רמה: מתאים לצוללים מנוסים.
עומק: מקסימום 40 מ'.
אתרי צלילה באזור האי קומינו
אי קטן ביותר הנמצא בין שני האחרים. ההגעה
מצריכה סירת צוללים, זמני הפלגות קצרים.
Comino caves\ St. Maria Cavess
האתר מציע שלל מערות ונקיקים במים צלולים. מחוץ למערות שוכבים
בולדרים על הקרקעית שם מתחבאים יצורים כגון תמנונים ומורנות
מסוגים שונים. ניתן להגיע לכל המערות בצלילה אחת רגועה ונינוחה.
האתר נחשב לאחד מהעמוסים ביותר באזור ולכן מצריך תכנון זמנים מקדים.
רמה: מתאים לכל רמות הצוללים.
עומק: מקסימום 18 מ'.
Cominotto Reef
אתר זה נמצא בקצה הדרומי של קומינו. בתחילת הצלילה ניתן לראות צמחייה
עשירה על קרקעית סלעית. בעומק 13 מטר ישנה מדרגה היורדת לקרקעית
של כ 35 מטר, שם שוכב על הקרקעית עוגן ענק מימי מלחמת העולם השנייה.
הקיר לאורך הצלילה בעל מבנה מעניין עם חורים ומערות קטנות המציע מקומות
מסתור רבים לבעלי חיים- ניתן לצפות בתמנונים ומורנות מציצים מהפתחים. על
הקיר גדלים אלמוגים צבעוניים מסוגים שונים. חשוב לזכור להסתכל מידי פעם לים
הפתוח על מנת לא לפספס דגים גדולים, כגון ברקודות וטונות. במידה וכמות האוויר
מאפשרת, ניתן לבקר במערה קטנה באזור לפני העלייה חזרה לפני המים.
רמה: מתאימה לרמות כל הצוללים.
עומק: מקסימום 36 מ'.
Alex Cave & Mashroom Rock
נחשבת לצלילה לא פשוטה אך יפיפה. המערה מעוצבת בצורת L וחלק נכבד
מהצלילה נעשה בחושך כמעט מוחלט עם פנסים. המבנה הסלעי במערה מרתק.
תחילת המערה בעומק 14 מטר והיא מציעה הזדמנות לראות הרבה סרטנים
ורכיכות מסוגים שונים, זוהרים לאור הפנסים. לאחר היציאה מהמערה ניתן
לצלול לאורך הקיר ולהגיע עד לקשת אבן תת מימית. בסוף הצלילה ניתן להגיע
לסלע הפטרייה הענקי שפסגתו יוצאת מעל פני המים ולחפש בחורים הקטנים
יצורים מעניינים כמו סוסוני ים, שרימפסים ועוד.
רמה: מתאימה רק לצוללים מנוסים.
עומק: מקסימום 14 מ'.

Entry Visa
Most nationalities do not need a visa and receive a 90 day stay on arrival. For
more information please contact the nearest Malta embassy in your country.
Personal Documents
A passport with at least 6 months validity.
Travel and diving insurance - can be purchased on this site.
A credit card is accepted in most places, saving the need to carry excess cash.
Diving certificate, valid diving insurance and a diving logbook.
Photocopy of your passport, diving certificates and travel insurance.
Make sure to keep it in a separate file from the original documents.
Diving Equipment
It is recommended to bring your own equipment with which you are accustomed
to using, especially a mask and a dive computer. Check your diving equipment
prior to your departure. Rented scuba diving equipment must be booked in advance.
Payment for the equipment will be directly.
We recommend a long 5-7-millimeter wetsuit with a hood, throughout the year and
even gloves. The water is recycled (thermocline) and the deeper you dive the water
temperature drastically decreases to differences of about 5-7 degrees.
Important items to bring along: An inflatable buoy to mark your location attached to a
roller and rope, anchor reef against strong currents and a whistle attached to your BCD.
Photography
Malta is renowned for crystal clear water with fantastic visibility of 30-50 meters,
all year round so this is definitely a destination you will want to document. You
do not have to be an expert photographer in order to take superb photos to capture
some amazing, unique and unforgettable moments. Diving packages are available
for most kinds of cameras, for photography above and under water. Easy-to-use
extreme cameras are also a popular choice.
Clothing
In Malta the temperatures vary according to season. During summer it is very hot and
humid during the day and in spring and autumn the weather is cooler, so long clothing
is required. It is recommended to wear warm and comfortable clothing for the flight,
including socks. Towels and bedding are provided by hotels.
Medication and First Aid
Pre-equip yourself with enough personal medication. Do not forget to stock up on
seasickness pills if necessary. Pack a high factor sunscreen to protect you from
prolonged exposure to tropical weather. There are no recommendations for any
vaccinations whilst visiting Malta and there is no information on local diseases.
We recommend keeping updated with your Ministry of Health website, regarding
vaccines.
Flights
When you receive your flight ticket, please ensure that your name is spelled exactly as
in your passport! Whilst checking in, make sure that the label on your suitcase shows
the final destination of your trip. You must arrive at the airport at least 3 hours before
departure. The number of bags and their weight should comply with airline restrictions
to avoid overweight charges.
Transportation, Arrival and Pick Up
On arrival after passport control, our representative will await you and direct you to the
transfer buses to the hotels. On mornings that you have booked dives, please wait outside
your hotel to be picked up and transferred to the diving club. Please check with the hotel’s
reception desk the pick-up time from the hotel back to the airport on your day of departure.
Communication
most hotels in Malta offer internet access that can sometimes entail fee. Most cafes also
offer free wi-fi. Additionally, you may purchase a communication package from your
local service provider or a local sim card at the airport and make calls at local rates.
Weather
The weather changes according to season and the summer months are from April
to November. The hottest months are July and August with high humidity levels.
Temperatures during the summer range between 30-35c degrees.
Sea Conditions
Sea conditions are comfortable nearly all through summer, however, some dives are
from a boat, and high winds can be expected during April and November. In cases of
strong winds, it is recommended to switch dives from boat dives to shore dives. boat
dives take place in the northern part of Malta in the channel between Malta, Gozo and
Comino. When sea conditions do not allow diving in this area, shore dives are operated
in the southern-east part of the island which is more protected from winds than in the
northern region. Diving in the northern region of Gozo island is only permitted when
seas are calm and there are no strong winds.
Take into consideration that you will need to walk with diving equipment on your back
for approximately 500m which includes a descent, climbing steps and walking on slippery
rock, up to the water entrance at the Blue Window dive site.
Some dive sites have currents which will use to dive along.
On the water surface use an inflatable buoy to mark your location until the boat arrives.
Visibility under the water is good 30-50 meters.
Keep in close eye contact with the team leader according to the visibility conditions on the
site. For those suffering from sea sickness, it is recommended to bring anti-seasick pills in
order not to suffer the short cruises.
Some of the sites have currents we will use to dive in their direction.
Electrical Supply
230V, we recommend bringing a universal adapter to avoid problems.
The sockets in Malta range and it is better to come equipped.
Money
The local currency is Euro.
Credit cards are accepted nearly everywhere.
Tips
Tips are commonly paid to tourist service providers and the approximate going
rate is 10% in restaurants. When spending several days at a resort or on at a dive
shop,between $60 and $100 per person should be left according to the level of
service. It is advisable to give the tip openly before leaving, as the local team
gathers to say goodbye.

Is a holiday in Malta suitable for non-divers?
Many divers choose to travel to Malta with partners that are non-divers, as Malta
has a lot to offer. Non-divers can enjoy good restaurants, bars, cafes, and Malta’s
glorious history makes it a leading vacation destination during the summer months.
What is the weather like in Malta?

What is the water temperature and which suit to bring?
During summer, water temperatures reach approximately 25c degrees, and
temperatures drop depending on the depth and can reach 22c degrees. During
spring surface temperatures range between 22-23c degrees and as waters
become deeper temperatures drop to about 16-18c degrees. The change of
temperatures is a regular issue in Malta and so it is always advisable to come
with a thick suit with a hood, boots and gloves.
Do I need to bring special equipment?
There is no need to bring any special equipment with you, however it is
recommendedto bring your own diving computer and an inflatable buoy
to mark your location.
Should I Purchase My Own Diving Equipment?
The answer to this question is according to the number of dives. Naturally, when
planning a scuba diving trip, you can decide to purchase full or partial scuba
equipment. We recommend purchasing your own mask and personal dive computer.

Do I Need Medical Approval to Dive?
You do! In principle, the requirement for medical approval is international with a
medicalstatement accepted by diving organizations. If the answers to all the questions
in your health declaration are negative, then there is no problem. If there are positive
answers, consult your diving doctor and get approval. If you are over the age of 45,
medical approval is required.
